Gabriela Hinojosa: "Winning 'MasterChef' has been the excuse to talk to my siblings again."

XL Weekly. Congratulations on your third daughter! Did everything go well?
Gabriela Hinojosa. Yes. And it's awful for me to say this because I'm her mother, but Pepa is so cute and super nice: she hasn't given me any trouble inside or outside my belly. She came to shine, and with a piece of bread under her arm.
XL. He has two reasons to celebrate in style.
GH As it is, I'm a very lucky woman. My daughter was born healthy and I won MasterChef 12+1, I couldn't ask for more [laughs].
XL. The MasterChef editions with unknown contestants are the most serious and challenging: they forge future professionals who are looking for an opportunity and almost risk their lives in the process.
GH I can only assure you that, in my edition, we all participated with a genuine passion for pursuing a dream. I, of course, entered MasterChef to win and make my way in the world of cooking.
XL. Who do you think was happiest and who least with their triumph?
GH Ha ha ha! Considering this is a competition and everyone would have liked to win, I think everyone was happy with my victory. But if I had to think of someone who felt more special, I'd say Yago and Elena. With Yago, I'm like a brother, and with Elena, the same; she's not just my friend. They've both left their mark on me.
XL. It's surprising every year that the name of the MasterChef winner doesn't leak for three months, given the number of contestants, family members, and employees who know.
GH It was really hard for me to keep quiet. My mother would say to me: "Girl, don't be disgusting, just tell me about it." They tried to get Currito (her 3-year-old son) out of the situation, but the poor guy wasn't very aware of what he experienced that day.
XL. How do you 'relive' such an emotion after three months of confinement?
GH It's a liberation! [Laughs]. For me, it was just as exciting as that day. When I watched the final on TV, sitting on the couch at home, I couldn't stop crying from the moment the show started.
XL. You've said that, after the death of your father (the creator of Cortefiel) last year, you stopped talking to your siblings due to inheritance issues. Have any of them called to congratulate you?
GH Yes, yes, of course. They've called me, because in the end, family is family. MasterChef has been the excuse to talk again, but family will always be there.
